Modded PSP Buying Guide 2026: PSP-1000 vs PSP Go (Sale On Now)
Share
Our PSP range is on sale right now, which makes this the best moment in a long time to pick one up — and the most common question we get is which model to choose. Here's the straight comparison between the two we stock: the classic PSP-1000 and the slider-style PSP Go.
PSP-1000: the original icon
The 1000 is the PSP as the world first met it in 2005 — the wide screen, the satisfying heft, the design that made phones look boring. Modded with custom firmware, it plays the entire PSP catalogue natively, plus PS1 classics and a full set of retro emulators, all pre-configured.
- Price: from £139.99 on sale — the most affordable console in our entire store
- Storage: 64GB–256GB (128GB recommended)
- Style: surprise colourway on every order

PSP Go: the pocket rocket
The Go was Sony's boldest handheld: no disc drive, a sliding screen, and a body small enough for an actual trouser pocket. It flopped in 2009 precisely because it was digital-only — which is exactly why it makes perfect sense modded in 2026, when everything runs from storage anyway. It even supports Bluetooth for pairing controllers.
- Price: from £272.99 in Piano Black
- Storage: 64GB–256GB
- Party trick: genuinely pocketable — the smallest way to carry the PSP library
Which one should you buy?
Choose the PSP-1000 if: you want maximum nostalgia, the classic form factor, or simply the best price — at £139.99 it is the cheapest route into modded handheld gaming we offer.
Choose the PSP Go if: portability is everything, you love unusual hardware, or you want the collector's piece that finally got the library it deserved.
Look after it
Both models pair perfectly with our crystal-clear hard case (£14.99) — invisible protection for hardware that is not being made any more.
The sale will not run forever. If a PSP has been on your list, this is the week to move.
